Egidio Clemente was an Italian-American labor leader and professional printer who edited La Parola del Popolo. A socialist, and close associate of Domenico Saudino, Clemente's early career as a political radical became more centrist during the Roosevelt Administration. Clemente may have supervised printing for the O.S.S. in Rome during World II for psychological warfare efforts such as Operation Cornflakes and Operation Sauerkraut. Girolamo Valenti (1892-1958), a labor organizer for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers in the east, was also editor of several Italian American publications. Valenti was born in Valguarnera, Sicily, and came to the United States in 1911. In addition to labor organizing activities, he edited the anti-fascist daily Il Nuovo Mundo (1925-1931), La Stampa Libera, La Parola del Popolo (New York), and Parola dei Socialisti. Vincent Massari (1898-1976) was born in Luco nei Marsi, Aquila, Italy, and came to the United States in 1915, following his parents to Pueblo, Colorado. His father was a coal miner and union organizer, involved in the 1914 Ludlow Massacre.
